چکیده

Methods We recruited 38 antiretroviral naïve HIV-1 infected children after getting written informed consent from their parents/guardians. The study was approved by the institute ethics committee. Neutralization efficiency of the patients’ plasma was tested against tier 2 pseudoviruses (3 clade C ZM53, Du172.17 and Du156.12 and 3 clade B RHPA4259.7, TRO.11 and SC422661.8) obtained from NIH AIDS Research and Reference Reagent Program by TZM-bl assay. The inhibitory dilution at 50% neutralization (ID50 titers) was determined by non-linear regression by the method of least squares. Correlation tests were carried out using Spearman rank correlation test.

Drug- Resistance- Associated Mutations and HIV Sub-Type Determination in Drug-Naïve and HIV-Positive Patients under Treatment with Antiretroviral Drugs

Abstract Background and Objective: Resistance to antiretroviral agents is a significant concern in clinical management of HIV-infected individuals. Resistance is the result of mutations that develops in the viral protein targeted by antiretroviral agents. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the blood samples of 40 HIV-positive patients were collected. Twenty of them were d...

Broad and potent cross clade neutralizing antibodies with multiple specificities in the plasma of HIV-1 subtype C infected individuals

Broadly Cross clade Neutralizing (BCN) antibodies are recognized as potential therapeutic tools and leads for the design of a vaccine that can protect human beings against various clades of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). In the present study, we screened plasma of 88 HIV-1 infected ART naïve individuals for their neutralization potential using a standard panel of 18 pseudoviruses belonging...

Profiles of neutralizing antibody response in chronically human immunodeficiency virus type 1 clade B'-infected former plasma donors from China naive to antiretroviral therapy.

Broadly neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) such as those generated in chronic human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection are considered a key component for an effective HIV-1 vaccine. Here, we measured NAb responses using a panel of 25 Env-pseudotyped viruses, including clade B, C, A, CRF07_BC and CRF01_AE strains, against plasma samples from 103 subjects in a former plasma donor cohort ...

Mutations in the Reverse Transcriptase and Protease Genes of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 from Antiretroviral Naïve and Treated Pediatric Patients

The success of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is challenged by the emergence of resistance-associated mutations in human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1). In this study, resistance associated mutations in the reverse transcriptase (RT) and protease (PR) genes in antiretroviral therapy (ART) naïve and treated HIV-1 infected pediatric patients from North India were evaluated. Genoty...

Metabolic Abnormalities in HIV-Positive Patients Receiving Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy

Background and Objective: Dyslipidemia has become a common problem in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease, especially in patients on combination antiretroviral therapy. In this study we aimed to determine the prevalence of dyslipidemia and metabolic abnormalities in 2 groups of HIV infected patients receiving highly activ...
